Addiction.
My christmas present to Danny was a game that I had played a few times before. I enjoyed it in those few occasions, but I had no idea that it would be the hit that it has become. Last night we played four games back to back. Each game took approximately an hour, and at the end of the fourth we looked at the clock to find out it was four in the morning. At which point we decided to play one last game. So we all went to bed around six a.m.
After sleep ridden with dreams of dice and sheep and brick, I awoke to Kendall asking me if I was too busy to play another game. So we played again.
This, my friends, is a problem. We played four more games today, changing different scenarios, goals, and rules. The variations are endless. (And we want the expansion packs desperately.)
I present to you: Settlers... In poorly lit photo form.

Well, the game is meant to be played in candle light. :)
I TOTALLY love Settlers! The Germans make some kick-ass board games, and there's this one French one, can't remember the name of the game but it starts with a "C", it's similar to Settlers but has a lot more options - you build the board first, with a river running through the fields, and then you build castles on the board, and there are moats and you occupy the castles and try to beat out the other rival castles - it's really cool.
I too am addicted to Settlers. The Seafarers expansion pack is also addicting.
I think Elysia is talking about Carcassone (sp?) above. It is very fun and addicting as well.
